Raise The Minimum Wage
It's time to raise the minimum wage, because no one who is working full time should be living in poverty.
In his State of the Union address, the President put raising the minimum wage and economic fairness at the top of the nation's agenda, saying:
"Today, after four years of economic growth, corporate profits and stock prices have rarely been higher, and those at the top have never done better. But average wages have barely budged. Inequality has deepened. Upward mobility has stalled. The cold, hard fact is that even in the midst of recovery, too many Americans are working more than ever just to get by -- let alone get ahead." Then on February 12, President Obama signed an executive order raising the minimum wage for federal contractor workers.
Now it's time for a raise for all Americans struggling at the minimum wage. Members of the Senate are joining progressives across the country to say:
Thank you, President Obama, for putting the nation's spotlight on raising the minimum wage. Now, Washington must take action immediately to raise the minimum wage to $10.10 an hour or more for all Americans. We call on Washington to act.
